The National Resource for Imaging Mass Spectrometry (NRIMS) is one of 71 biomedical technology research centers supported by the National Institutes of Health through the National Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering and the National Center for Research Resources. NRIMS is home to the Cameca NanoSIMS 50 prototype and NanoSIMS 50L, which are revolutionary Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometers (SIMS). We have developed Multi-isotope Imaging Mass Spectrometry (MIMS), which is the combination of SIMS, tracer methods and intensive quantitative image analysis. Our aim is to be a technological, methodological, and intellectual resource for researchers from a variety of disciplines. We seek to explore and develop the unique capabilities of MIMS and to bring cutting-edge information to biology and medicine that is currently unobtainable using existing technologies. We collaborate with dozens of leading laboratories around the world on a wide range of projects.
